Welcome to Elementary School
Welcome to the elementary division of the International School of Islamabad. We pride ourselves on creating an environment where students are challenged to reach their full potential. The Elementary School is a place where students thrive academically and experience learning in a secure and continually evolving child-centered environment. Our talented and highly qualified faculty is dedicated to the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. The students develop more effective communication skills and, most importantly, actively participate in the learning process as they develop the skills and attitudes to become life-long learners.
Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) is a self-contained program for students who are 2- 3 years of age. Students must be 2 years old by August 1st to be eligible to enroll in Pre-K. The Pre-K Program is an inquiry-based, language-rich curriculum that encompasses foundation skills in math, language, science, social studies, and social/emotional development. Building skills to ensure growth in gross motor and fine motor movement is also a focus. These skills are taught through integrated, hands-on activities and centers where students can begin the journey of discovery and wonder. Students use the outdoor environment as well as indoor facilities.
Our curriculum is inquiry and standards-based, following the philosophical belief that when outcomes are identified and students are actively involved in the learning process, enduring student understanding is the result. As well as offering the core subjects of math, science, language arts and social studies, we have a strong specialist curriculum in art, French, host nation, library, life skills, music, physical education, technology, and Urdu. Our faculty collaborates on and integrate curriculum. Additionally, we offer English Language Learners (ELL) and a resource program that supports student academic achievement.
Each morning we open school with an assembly designed to celebrate student learning and encourage a sense of identity. Throughout the year, a broad array of activities and programs are offered in the After School Activity Program. Student government is also stressed at the elementary level. At the start of each year our Elementary Leadership Council identifies goals that will encourage student participation in community service activities as well as enriching the school experience for all students. All students participate in House System activities throughout the year that promote school and team spirit. There are many other activities that highlight student success: Book Month, Writer's Celebration, Talent Show, NESA Virtual Science Fair, winter and spring musical productions and much more.
We believe a strong home/school partnership is the foundation for student success. This shared responsibility is the most important work we undertake as educators and parents. Do come and visit our school and experience the uniquely rewarding environment of ISOI.
